Anyone done a straight up wash with this ? Pretty pricey stuff but taste dam good. When the Mrs was tryin to thin me down a bit she got me on it and turfed out the white stuff. Taste bloody beaut. Boiled and hardened cane syrup apparently. I like the word CANE...nom nom. Anyone done it .

Never tried it but would assume it would come out similar to cachaca which is a fantastic drink similar to a white rum or the aged version is similar to a light sweet rum...
Try it and send me a sample I'll let you how close it is to cachaca

I tried a wash with all dark muscovado, pretty similar. It made quite a nice light rum after 6 months on American oak :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That was my thoughts too. Used to drink a South African brew back in the 80's called Cane ... was cheap but hellishly good

I did 3kg rapadura with 3kg of raw sugar. Litterally just tasted like brown sugar. I aged it about 4months. Gave up and blended it into other mcrum i had.. perhaps needed more time but didnt like were it was heading

I think a genuine cachaca from cane juice with tight cuts would produce a fine drop. If you could get an ibc worth at a reasonable price I'd take 200L...

I should approach them. My office is not far from there. Would an IBC bust my Hilux in half ? Probably hey?

Cane juice shouldn't weight much more than water, unlike molasses which is 1.4 times heavier. So guessing 1.1t plus ibc. So yeah you'd need a tandem axle trailer.

I think using rapadura and raw sugar in the same wash is probably where you went wrong, the raw sugar was likely diluting the flavour of the rapadura...

I used 5kg of rapadura and treated it like a rum and the end result is quite nice (both dark and white)

No, I don't find there is a brown sugar taste at all, more of a light bodied rum and very easy to drink as well!

Technically Rapadura is dried and granulated sugar cane juice (or at least that's what it should be) and living in Perth, it will be the closest I ever get to a sugar cane juice ferment!
