Heating a TPW

Postby Peanut » Mon Jun 05, 2017 9:37 pm

Just wondering with winter upon us and with it the cooler weather is it worth trying to heat the wash? Was thinking about putting a small fish tank heater in to keep it at about 20 degrees. I work FIFO so will be either 2 or 5 weeks between putting the wash down and running it through the still. Is it not worth it? Am in Perth so gets fown to single digits over night.

I use a fish tank heater or a heat pad, both seem to work just fine

Cool thanks. Will grab one next time I am home. Still only learning this whole game but it is definitely fun to play with.

I use an old $10 bar fridge off flea bay and a temp controlled heat belt

Works a treat all year round but only good for up to 25L wash

a 100w fish tank heater will easily control a 60lit wash, gets cold in country Vic too, you dont need a stronger one.

Was thinking of just getting a 50 watt and setting it to say 25 degrees. Will wrap some bubble wrap style insulation around it as well.
