Oh No..Another turbo yeast question

Hey all.

I have a question about turbo yeast and I know the consensus is not to use it but I have a few packs that came with my kit.
I was wondering if I could boil the hell out of it, to kill it and open it up, and then just use a little as yeast nutrients for the bakers yeast in the sugar washes for vodka.
Its just that I have it and would like to put it to some use without picking up all the bad flavours that it can make in the wash.
Cheers and Thanks in advance

Dave

I used to split a turbo pack into 4 and add a little bakers yeast ( teaspoon), tomato paste and sugar.
Not ideal but better than straight turbo

Hey There Stig

When you split it up did you still get the unwanted flavours??
I opened up and pack and there seems to be an absolute s##tload of yeast in there.

Not as much crap and after filtering it was ‘ok’
It’s not all yeast in the pack, you’ve got a ton of fertilizer in there as well.
Give it s go

If your worried about the off flavours just use bakers yeast and keep the turbo sh##t for a sacrificial run down the track :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Double distilled with cuts and you can make turbo drinkable. No point throwing it away.

i've refluxed turbo twice (three "stripping" reflux runs) and one spirit reflux run. carbon filtered and flavoured it was fine, and I got a LOT for the amount of effort.

Wouldn't the power to do the extra runs be worth more than a packet of bakers yeast? Doesn't seem economical to me at all?
