done plenty of tpw`s before , but for some reason this one is taking AGES to distil , all the temps are normal just like before...

any clues as to why the tpw is taking ages to finish ?

Do you mean it’s taking ages to distill off your spirit run or it’s taking ages to finish fermenting?
Temp or ph would be your biggest factors if it’s fermentation time

its taken ages to distil before it use to take around 2 hours , now its been 5 hours ..its nearly done 2.5 litres with about half a degree rise from starting temp.

Maybe your element is on the way out?
Have a good look for leaks
Have you checked the Abv of the output?

abv is bout 98 % .no leaks , element seem fine, but one thing i did just now is i tapped the thin copper pipe and the colum then it started coming out like it usually does...dribbling fast.. maybe some air lock or something ?

Is it an lm still? Is it possible the takeoff valve had some crap blocking it?

Liquid management, It sounds like a t500 still

You can't get 98% from a still unless you add other chemicals to break the azeotrope... And you won't want to do that.

If you've checked the abv at 20 degrees C and it still reads 98 then check your alcometer in tap water. If it doesn't read 0 then your alcometer is out.

Yep. Lm still. Maybe when finished pull the valve off and check there's no obstructions. Other than that it could be the element on the way out (as stated here before) if it was all running fine on a previous run.
Don't stress the 98% (maximum you could get is around 96%). You'll probably just need to temperature correct the hydrometer you're using or wait until the liquid cools to room temp to get close to the right reading.
