Has anyone used corn fresh from a farm. Not dried and cracked. Being fresh and as they say wet would it be easier to use?

It generally needs to be cracked or milled to get to the goodness inside, if used whole, I assume you would be down a heap of flavor

If I was going to try, I would boil the crap out of it first, pretty much porridge/gelletinise it and go from there, possibly a trip to the freezer first

I believe it's been tried and the consensus was it's impractical due to the mess wet grain makes running it through a mill. If you have another method for breaking the skins and crushing the grain then I'm sure it'll work.

from a farm :laughing-rolling: but yeah if you use a stick blender instead of the mill it should be good. Do a small test with iodine and see.

I would have thought it would cook and go gelatinous faster since it does not have to be rehydrated :think:

if it is far cheaper than store bought i might give it a go. My thoughts were, not being dried it wouldn't have as much sugar.

Why would it not have as much sugar? Isn't corn picked when it's at it's sweetest? :think:

Agreed bluc, drying will not increase the sugar content.
Hardest part will be removing the kernel from the cob.
Unless it already has been some how.
Apart from the cost has anyone tried frozen corn?

Yeah that’s what you convert to sugar

You would need to compete for the water content of the grain. Your volume would be very similar but weight would be considerably heavier.
Each kernel would still contain the same level of starch.

Getting it off the cob would be torture mah be punishment for the kids when they misbehave :laughing-rolling:
