sugerhead sour mash

Postby dom187 » Fri Mar 22, 2019 2:39 pm

Morning all
Just doing my first Ujssm and the only corn I can get (only stock feed supplier where I live as im remote) is hygain micronized maize, which from what I have read is fine for this. However the maize is full of weevils. very small little bugs. ive scooped what I could from the top of the wash but there still in there. will this be ok? or should I throw it out? hoping it will be ok as I reckon all the maize I get from them now and in the future is going to be like this.

Thanks

No need to worry mate. I did a 200 itre wash of ujssm years ago and a few of the raw sugar packets had been invaded by ants. Didn't realise until I'd filled the fermenter up, I tossed up dumping it or not and decided to let it run. Didn't make any difference.
