Volume for washes

I’m running 2x50litre weetbix washes. I usually end up with approx 5-7litres of pure. Which is not really enough to cover elements and use my Carter head. Im thinking of upgrading the ferments to the 120 litre version (speidels). APart from doubling the ingredients, is there anything else I need to be mindful of? For example is heat an issue?
Thanks

Hi Rolls, you do water down your “5-7 L of pure” to below 40% don’t you?
Plus you can go lower than 40% too

:text-+1: on what WJ and Stig said.
You shouldn't have any issues multiplying the wash ingredients to suit the bigger fermenters. You don't need to apply the same multiplier to the yeast though. Heat wont be a problem either. I do 200 litre ferments without issue.

Thanks. Yes usually 40%.
What is correct yeast ratio then prof? Cheers

My last wash (which was some time ago now sadly) I used 140g bakers yeast for a 220 litre WBAB ferment. Even that is possibly more than I needed.

Has anyone used a honey storage tank as a fermenter if you buy one made out of lower grade 202 stainless not that expensive $165 for 200kg of honey which looks to be about 130 liters

Hmmm... does over yeasting screw up the batch? Or, is it just a waste of coin?

Just a waste of coin but it will result in a slightly faster wash.

I’m not sure if this is on topic or not but here goes.
I’m about to set up a rum wash or two and understand that they can be very active while initially fermenting.
In the past I have underfilled my fermenters on brews that I thought would go mad and add the extr 4-5litres of water the next day when things have settled down.
I figure that the ABV shouldn’t get high enough to kill off the yeast in 24hrs.
It also makes it easier to clean the fermenter as the yeasty crust around the top is submerged for the main period of the ferment.
Am I missing something here?
