TPW spirit run stinks

After doing spirit run and cuts the neutral has an odd smell but the taste is good.

From a 25L wash i am taking about 2 - 2.3L of 94%.
Last batch I was a little harsher on cuts and kept 1.8L and still had the smell.

Considering the taste is good should I be worried? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Using the recipe from tried and proven section including exact quantities.

Can you decribe the smell?

Odd smelling. Almost reminds me of celery.

Thanks. I stopped short of the wet dog smell I read about but I guess this was the start of the tails I didn't recognise. I will be harsher next time around.

Thanks I will give this a run next time. I am not a fan of tomato but reading it was a neutral thought I wouldn't taste it (and I dont). Maybe it is more tomato smell than celery. I will check it again.

Just some thoughts.
I use olive oil as a foam retardant, I was previously using store bought conditioner. I use essences if making a scotch for the father in law.

Will tails show up in smell before taste?

Try carbon filtering.

You shouldn’t need foam retardant for a TPW unless it’s not fully fermented .
Try running without next time

For me, when running TPW through the T500, I could definitely taste tails before I can smell it coming off the still.
I didn't see the sense in saving the tails for anything other than cleaning, and I have 5L of heads saved up for that, so as soon as I noticed the wet cardboard smell, I turned off the heat.
A couple of days later, when sorting out the cuts jars, I always had a couple of 200ml jars at the end that were noticeably nasty and left a burning feeling in the mouth, even watered down 2 teaspoons of water to one of spirit.
