Yes, I did another run on the weekend and went a bit slower. Held in full reflux for about 15 minutes before collecting anything then only drips for foreshots and heads. Then increased power until drips just turned to stream. Ran at about 91% and slowly dropped to 85% then pot mode after that. The result was a quite a bit more product made it through the cuts.

I read macs guide about operating bubblers and about controlling take off with the reflux condenser and I’ve found it very hard with the gate valve to get it just right. This run I just left the cooling going flat out and used power controller to adjust.

That’s why I leave the water as it is and increase the power to get where I need to be .
That guid was written well before the introduction of affordable power controllers

Ok,nice.
I guess all stills are a little different, my 2” cm reflux took a bit to learn how to drive it.
Part of the the fun of this hobby I guess, constantly adjusting our approach in the pursuit of making the best products possible.
Been enjoying getting back into it and learning more about the craft.

I have had a sugar grain wash sit for 8 months it was one of the best tasting spirit i have had to date!
