wash stalled

I have a TPW that is not finished but has slowed to a stall.
Can i wake it up somehow?

Heat would be my first suggestion. Got an electric blanket? Or a heat belt? even better.

The temp increase will spark the yeast off again.

You could also go to your homebrew shop and ask for some DAP (Diammonium phosphate) which acts as a yeast nutrient and will spark things up again.

But a heat belt is your best investment for winter brewing.

I sit my slow washes near my burner when doin a run during this cold weather, a bit of warmth will do it good!:smile:

Yes as others have said warm it up and give it a vigorous stir once its warmed a bit

well goto run my oat meal mash and allbran today since they were clear ,,, thought :eusa-think: might dip my finger in them to see how bitter it .... nope ,,, sweet as shit ! :angry-banghead: so long weekend of running has now turned into 1 run and thats it. owell better go mow the lawn then

1st time this has happened ... do i just move them inside and give it another week ? do i repitch more yeast ?

Yeast should still be viable,I'd give it a good stir to get some oxygen happening,paint mixer on drill springs to mind,maybe a pinch of epsom salts and then wrap up nice and cozy in the kids electric blanket and you're off and running :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Well my first wash is going good still slowly bubbling after 12 days,i am using a heater pad and blanket and its about 30C....just a thought!

You sound like you need some yeast nutrients or better yeast?

Yep I lived in mackay for three years and even though the locals would complain about the "winter" (which lasted about 2 weeks) it was quite bearable in tshirt and shorts all year round! Yeast would be happy as a pig in shit!

You need:
- Yeast (good yeast)
-Sugar (of some description)
-Nutrient (proper nutrients)
-Initial Aeration
-Ideal Temp (for the yeast)
-and if your adding crazy shit PH right.

One of these is your problem ;-)

Or you have too much sugar and stressing the yeast, or your mash is too thick and can't ferment properly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah I think its the sugar. Since after I clean it out the sugar is at the bottom like gel. May have to invert it. Spose im just getting lazy

Are you disolving it in hot water?

As long as your water is warm enough it should dissolve and once it has it shouldn't come back out of solution :handgestures-thumbupleft:
