I bought one of these as a water reservoir for cooling water.
http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_pro ... 100&page=1

Mine didn't have the water tap.

$89 for 300ltrs
I'm sure you could fit a few ferments in that. :D :D :D

You won't need that much yeast. 100g should be more than enough :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think you could up the sugar level a little bit but as you are doing a larger ferment yeast health becomes important.
If possible add 0.2gms of DAP per litre when starting the ferment then after 2 days add another 0.2gms per litre this is a yeast nutrient that is better than tomato paste and available from winemaking suppliers or homebrew shops.
I did a 120 litre ferment with 27kgs of raw sugar.
The starting temp should be around 20-30 degrees using your mix of hot and cold water,
I always use raw sugar now which i find gives a smoother spirit, never white sugar which i find leaves an aftertaste
Hope that helps o:-)

Sorry to hijack can you use a 200l drum but only do a 100l sugar wash? Do you need to use a bigger airlock or the normal ones will do?

That will be fine mate, you'll just end up with a deeper layer of CO2 sitting on top of the wash.

In my 220 litre fermenter I drilled a hole in the lid, fitted the rubber grommet from a 30 litre fermenter lid and standard s trap air lock. One day into a rum ferment I had to refill the air lock 3 times after that I took the air lock out, put some silicone hose in the grommet and put the other end in a empty 2 litre bottle with 2 holes drilled in the lid. One hole for the hose the other to let the co2 out. Works a treat and even during summer I don't have to refill the water.
Hope this helps, id add some photos but its dark now and my camera phone's flash is broken, if I get a chance I can take some tomorrow if you would like.

I've just got myself a 220 litre drum because it was cheaper than the hbs 60l drums. Just looking for advice on cleaning it thoroughly, I think I was told nappy san? It it the one with the full open lid so plenty of access.
Also, with the ingredients (TPW, FFV, etc) are they just multiplied from 50l washes to make a 200l wash?
