Vodkas, neutrals, gifts

Postby bt1 » Thu Oct 23, 2014 6:38 am

Right then,

You've been pissing about with your own wash preference's all year and should have enough in stock for the Xmas break. if not get your shit together!

Got the itch from reading the increasing number of fruit posts lately

it's time to drag out the old fermenters you don't use any more, bang in a SG1085 on EC1118 yeast, wettbix/tpw at a gentle 26c allowing 2 -3 weeks for a steady ferment and get on making quality neutrals.

Steam clean the still and your filtering section while your waiting....or make one now!

You going to need these for making SPD/SGD, flavoured vodkas, Baileys cream and fruit infusions for Xmas presents in some of those real nice bottles you'll spot at the local discount stores.
Get your shit together now to take advantage of the pre Xmas fruit availability and pricing.

Never under estimate the impact of a well crafted, hand made bottle at Xmas time :handgestures-thumbupleft:

TPW makes some of the most neutral neutral you can get, I'm not sure why you think it's not a quality wash?

I've been fermenting my first tpw with ec1118 for about 4-5 weeks at 20c and I think it's finally finished. I can't wait to try it so I can make my own mind up. Some people on here think it's a terrible neutral and some think it's amazing. Definitely confusing for noobs like myself

TPW with EC1118 is what the Doc uses for his award winning gins, and all of his vodkas... I'm pretty sure if there was a way to make better neutral, we'd know about it ;-)

A pre hydrated EC1118 at right temp would need bugga all for 27lt wash ...bout 15gm = slightly heaped avg. desert spoon.

cheers
