sugar wash, no tomato paste???

Postby Pete8686 » Wed Apr 29, 2015 6:19 pm

Hey guys :handgestures-thumbupleft: I want to put a sugar wash on tonight but sadly out of tomato paste and cant make it to the supermarket. Im wondering if I can get away with other pantry items for nutrients? I was going to try a couple of handfulls of weet bix, vitam tab and lemon juice. Would that be ok or will it not be enough? Cheers for any advice you guys may have

Depending on the size of your wash 10 or 12 Weetbix crushed, plus the Vit tab should work I recommend a couple litres of hot water and let them soak for 30 mins

About right for a 20 = 23 litre wash but keep the sugar down max 4kg,

not too much lemon juice and bakers yeast 50g should see you right

Cheers teddy, decided to go with 8-10 weet bix a vit tab and chucked in a can of corn for good measure lol. It was intended for neutral but if it comes out alright with good flavour I may even pot still it :handgestures-thumbupleft: ill let ya's know how it goes

Definitely pot still it!

Some of my best CFW was a bastardized version with some weetbix, a tin of corn and a tin of LME on top :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Done a stripping run on this wash today, it fermented out dry with no issues. Pretty light flavour but its there, flavour come through when I was near tails. Dropped the temp when I was 2/3 of the way through the run and collected a sample @ 60%, watered it down to 40% and drinking with coke. Its actually quite pleasant. If I do my spirit run and keep early tails, oak it for at least 12 -18 months it should be a good drop :handgestures-thumbupleft:
