Homemade Vodka Not Working!

Hi All

New at this, purchased a T500, put down a raw sugar wash, distilled at 48 - 50 degrees.
Got a spirit out (2.4L) at 91% - 93%. Cut to 40%.
Tried it out with a mix, 8 full nips (not all at once) - no effect. Next day tried 8 shots (not all at once) - no effect.
What have I done wrong?
Cheers

What is the question your wanting answered?
Is the statment 'no effect' referring to you not being able to get drunk?

Hi

Yes I wondering if I have done something wrong in the process, as i was trying to see the effect the end product had when i tried it.

I was trying to gauge the controlled alcohol effect it had as i drank the spirit. (No effect at all)

Sorry

Haven't explained myself very well, i was sitting down watching the footy and decided to have a couple, after the game realised i didn't feel any different, i expected a kick from a 40% drop.

So i figured i must have done something wrong in the process that was all.

It smells sweet and tastes great.

Righto before people start kicking off with useless comments, is your alcometer reading correct? Did you water your spirit back with the correct amount?

I have heard more cases of people not watering back enough as too much but you never know

By kick do you mean that awful aftertaste you get with commercial made stuff or the shitty hangovers caused by being greedy and keeping to much heads by commercial distillers?

I like ta burn a couple of capfulls from each run ,partly as a ritual that my pimp passed onto me to prove it's the shit!!,clean burn clean spirit and it's fun, check your alcometer in straight water then in your diluted spirit,or try useing it on a store bought bottle of voddy to confirm it's accuracy,or your body could be likeing the change from commecial drinks.double check all other bottle's to be sure to be sure .cheers hillzabilly ;-)

It does seem strange Boris that you felt no effect, especially if you had some shots.

I remember when I used to drink I'd usually get that warm fuzzy glow after a few shots.

As these guys have already said, calibrate your alcometer in some water or store bought grog and you'll probably find your answer.

Cheers

Rather than buying a bottle of commercial stuff - buy a second Alchometer for a lot less.. You are like to need it anyway as most of us drop at least one and if the first one is off then you have a new working one.

Why not try 50% less water when breaking the still produce down...this should mean about 65%-70%.
Try 8 shots of that, report back.
Are you Russian per chance - last name mihilovic?if so, your funny, I read your book it's hilarious - if it IS u, screw the water, just set up a drop from the still lol.
