100 litre TPW

Postby jacobraven » Thu Jun 11, 2015 3:22 pm

Ok so my first 100 Litre TPW is on 1.000 SG ive had it on for 2 weeks (might not have taken that long i only check it weekly) with fish tank heater. It is just 4 times the proven recipe from here. Most say to wait 2-3 weeks for clearing im wondering is that from today or 2 weeks ago, I'm in no rush to distill it as ive got 18 litres of 45% neutral anyways. With my old turbos I use to run it quick n collect the whole lot together then re distill it. It wont be necessary with TPW? just run it with cuts. With 4 times the normal recipe id still be looking for about 11%? 11 litres totalish? 2.5 per my 25 litre boiler should be a good goal?.

Thanks

Should be good to run whenever you get time mate.

I'd strip the lot and double distill it, with good cuts you'll have plenty of nice neutral :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Ok so ive done the 4 25 litre runs collecting 4~ Litres per run might have got more but that seemed like enough. I just ran it all into 5 litre glass demijohns. Nothing cut so my question now is if id cut during every run id have chucked 200ml each of fores but to have less man handling ive decide to double distill n only do cuts on the last one. So i chuck 800ml of fores? or 200ml i guess is my question.

So i guess someone with a 100l boiler can answer it.

Thanks

200 will still be fine to chuck as fores.

There will be a fair amount of heads after that when you do your cuts after airing :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Ive got a 100 litre TPW down atm, and have a question bouncing round my noggin bothering the hell out of me....
I have a 30 litre boiler, and do 25 litre runs.
I also chuck about 200ml each run as fores. (just to ere on the side of caution)

If i do a quicker/hotter run with half (or less) the packing, / stripping run.
Then I do a full reflux run with proper cuts,
why would i not throw out 800ml as fores?

Why only 200ml?

Am i being way over generous in how much i discard from my 25 litre runs?

either way if you throw 200ml or 800nl its still fores and heads, non of which we want to drink so it doesn't matter.
you wont be throwing the ethanol which is hearts

In a TPW i would say there is at least 500ml heads after 150ml fores 2L hearts and 500ml tails but this depents on how well you run your still and how you make your cuts. Now i usually get 3.5L of hearts @ 90% from 2 25l washes after a strip. rest is feints and crap which would make up to about 2.5L @ 90%

so you see with 800ml or 200 it really wont matter since hearts will begin at about 1.5 to 2l for me with 2 25L striped washes but it depents how you like your hangovers, i like mine non-existent :-B :obscene-drinkingdrunk:
