My wash wont stop bubbling?

Postby grahamarn44 » Sun Oct 04, 2015 7:39 am

Hi, I put a wash down on the 12 th September it is still hasn't finished bubbling from the yeast after 3 week checked today 4 th oct?
I have been making my own spirits for over 4 years now, most times the wash is ready after 7 to 10 days?
I have used Still classic yeast just wondering if the yeast is faulty or stale?
I say it be ready maybe 4 or 5 days time, that be almost a month I hate to be hanging out for a drink waiting to distille it ~x(
At least I got 4 litres of scotch left from my last distilling :obscene-drinkingdrunk:

Chuck your hydrometer in and check the gravity.
If it's down to 0.990 run it

Is 0.990 just below 0 ? as I am showing a wee bit under 0 here?

What wash was it?

If it's at 990 and still fizzing a little it may just be CO2 escaping :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah 990 is usually the next increment from 1.000 ;-)

:text-thankyoublue: I will put my clearer in today and do a distill Monday or Tuesday, its a double distill app 45 litres of wash, and I found I get a better alco from not using the black carbon, also just use normal white sugar 16 kg in all distilling I get app 45% alco on 1500 mls, just a splash of water brings it to 41%
When I set down this wash it frothed nicely in the 1st 4 hrs or so :obscene-drinkingchug:
It's fun making my moonshine at app $6.00 or so a bottle of 1125 mls :obscene-drinkingchug:

Should try a TPW and some cuts mate, your quality will go through the roof compared to your current methods :handgestures-thumbupleft:
