Next mash I'll go down to 1.1mm grind and hopefully pick up the slight loss in efficiency. It should handle it without getting stuck. I think the stuck sparges I had was a result of lots of paint stirrer/drill mixing which isn't as needed with the pump circulating the wort. This was my lowest sg @1060 normally around 1070.

I started off with 1.1mm grist and had more trouble with it than the current 1.2mm. Mind you, I don’t have a RIMS or HERMS ( ~x( stoopid spell-correct!!! We don’t use herpies!!!), so that may be where we differ.
As for temp loss, I wouldn’t think it would matter too much going into the FV!?!?

Coffee doesnt have rims or hermes. He just recirculates. Which is why I asked him about temp loss. :handgestures-thumbupleft: the loss matters if you want the best from your mash and you end up outside enzyme temp :-B

I've done pillow cases of green malt in the spin dryer and that kind of works but is damn hard on the machine (plus doesn't fully dry it) so I shit canned it as a bad joke.

A beer brewer named Dogger Dan (has since past) tried something like this and it caught fire. :angry-extinguishflame:

Well, the AG-Corn wort seems to have finished fermenting (it’s settled out nicely) it’ll have to wait until the weekend before I have enough time to symphony it off. I am thinking of straining the remainder sludge thru an unused bed sheet, just to see if it’s worth it... unless anyone has any better ideas?!?!
The corn grain sugar head is also looking like it is starting to settle... the corn was bunched up high in the FV but is now showing signs of sinking, the corn mass has spread throughout the FV... might be able to run both on the weekend but perhaps I’ll do one each weekend... see how thing pan out.

I just recently bought a grain bag for my AG. I have not used it yet. The bag is 600x600 and i opted for the super fine weave. The material is nylon but the sufer fine weave resembles fine silk. No chuncks bigger than water molecules are going to get through this bugger.
It has reinforced sides and no seam on the bottom which should be good for giving it a good squeeze.
I am happy to pm you where i got it from.

I hope this link works.
They are a pure online shop based in Bayswater in Melbourne. Great guy easy to chat to. If you are local to the area you can ring him and organise a pick up from the factory.

Bummer.

Just finished a bunnies meeting with my Coach. Now to write up the plan and send out emails... then, take the FG readings of the Corn AG & Corn Sugar head to see if they are truly finished, then work out the ABV of the wort before I then separate the wort from the sludge/grain in each FV. Hoping to get that all done today!

Good luck bluc, try to keep us posted, repairs and working the mash permitting!

will your drill chuck tighten on?
know anyone with a welder?
some creative JB Weld sculpting?

This AG thing is really trying you out mate

Have you had a look at "grain conditioning" before milling?
The qty of rice hulls to use seems pretty varied, some use way less than what your using and others use upto equal to grain amount, great....
I had the idea that the hulls were soaking up your sugar, but from what i read it shouldn't be an issue - you are pre soaking the husks?

Nope dont pre soak hulls, just account for it with mash snd sparg3 water. Its just corn is a pita. :laughing-rolling:

So anyway i was sitting there thinking of what to do and saw my malt muncher barley mill and at this point I didnt much care so thought
Ran it through 3 times was amazed how easy it mulched it compared to the corona mill. This is what I got
1524897289710_Resized_20180428_143549_941.jpeg

More flour so more rice hulls. Ok new recipe
6.5kg corn ground as above
4.5kg pale ale
1.4kg rice hulls
Wilk be 3l/kg mash thickness
Same method steep corn/rice hulls in boiling water overnight. Barley tomorow then sparge lets see. More tomorrow.. :happy-partydance:
