Whats your Grain Bill

Postby RuddyCrazy » Sat Oct 07, 2017 10:24 pm

Well guy time to start planning on a grain bill for this double boiler, now i am thinking a 50 % barley malt with 30% wheat and 20% rye should make for a nice mouth feel bourbon. Basically do 4 strip runs over a month then do a do spirit run using a inline thumper and 4 plates. Then keep going until the barrel is filled then start again

Regards Bryan

Sounds like it will be a great drop mate but I don’t have think it’ll taste to much like bourbon unless it has at least 50% corn in it

Hah, beat me to it!

I haven’t experimented too much with grain bills as yet, although just in the process of stepping into AGs!

I am focusing on Barley, for now and will play with wheat/Rye/corn a little down the road of discovery. My fermenting schedule is a little haphazzard at the moment so not getting in as much experience as I would like...

Want to try an all wheat, an all Millet whisky and then experiment with rye in the mix! But I like that you started this thread, let’s hope more will have an input...

If you havent done much AG beer, just stay simple. You can get a bag of reasonable pilsner or pale malt for around 50 to 60 bucks. Start adding more expensive stuff to it once you understand your equipment and how to get the best out of it.
