Hi folks,

I saw black plastic (PP) garbage bins at Bunnings for $10 with lid, I think they were 76L.

Would these be ok for fermenting washes in?

I’m looking to increase batch size from 25L to 40L.

Ideally you want something rated food grade plastic, food grade has the number 2 in the recycling triangle on the bottom. (I think the number 4 is food grade too but don’t quote me)
But, I think a few members use those type of bins for fermenters and haven’t grown second heads because of it.
but I can’t say they didn’t have a second head to start with so don’t quote me on that either :laughing-rolling:

foodgrade plastic, but lid is a loose fit, so use gladwrap to keep the creepycrawlies out and the CO2 in.
$15 ea (you can even colour coordinate the man cave) - and they have wheels :happy-partydance:

If you can find food grade plastic bags that fit and are not too costly can use as a liner in the bin and makes cleaning easier and quicker have seen used for making beer.
