Any hoo
Atm i am siphoning my mash from the 200litre barrel to a 160ltr barrel for clearing and i am doing a mish of a way
Gets to half way and i have to jug the rest from barrel to barrel so i wanting to know how u guys move ur mash around
I'm thinking of getting a 2200lh fish tank pump and using that to move it but I don't want to suck up half the yeast bead in my fermenter same as i don't want to suck up the floaters on the bottom of my clearing tank any ideas guys
Cheers

mate what you need is a racking plate ( what we winemakers call it ) craftbrewer in brisbane (they are online) sell them. they are a simple plastic plate for the end of your hose that prevents the hose from sucking up the crap on the bottom or even simpler buy a plug from bunnings for the bottom of the hose (landscape irrigation section) and then put sufficient drill holes in the hose about 2 inches up to maintain a steady flow...then put the hose into the tank until it touches the bottom and put a sporing clip on it so it does not slip down...The drill pump idea is genius...they are cheap and have a simple impeller and do the job very effectively. Take care.

Best is put a tap in the side of your barrel at the height you want to leave the rubbish and use a pump I transfer 70 litres in under a minute

I use a simple floating strainer set up with a drill pump.
Strains the wash right down to the grain bed.
