Bushy's 6 week HERMS challenge

Postby MacStill » Fri Nov 01, 2013 9:14 pm

Well just thought everyone would like to know our esteemed Bushy picked up a bit of 6" pipe over a week ago for his Hilly heat exchanger project, he's been a bit quiet about it and I thought he would've made some progress by now, but nothing.... seems the pushy bushy aint up to the task :laughing-rolling:

:-B Prick :-D And you went and put a clock on me :laughing-rolling:
Yes Mac, i am draggin my feet a little. Thus far, smackin out some end caps and silvering a ferrule on is all i have done.
I did order a pump and some bits today and i have a close eye on a 200 l esky.
Question guys! I only wanta mash enough at once for two boiler charges (100 litres tops) would a 150 l cooler do the job?

My 300L esky is only just enough to hold 50kg grain and 150L water, it swells up a fair bit in the tunn ;-)

I got 110 to 120 litres from it

The problem with people that live down Bushy's way is that if the crabs are running, no work gets done.

Righto ya bastards.
I got down the shed for a few hours this morning. Then I had to take Mrs Bushy out the pub because there was some horse race on. To make matters worse, all the pool tables were covered over so I had to watch the fkn thing with her. Ne'r mind, a once a year flutter won't hurt.
This is the heat exchanger.

A complete copy from Hilly's. My theory, well one of em, is that the gurus arn't usually too far off the mark. Theres six metres of coil inside. I may have been able to squeeze a little more but if the wort don't get the idea after twenty feet then it's too stupid to drink. The little hole half way down is obviously the temp probe and as long as there's fluid in the sight glass all should be well. The lid is just a lid and it comes off for top ups

Should work.
Now if I can just score a fkn esky.
