Fermentation chamber

Postby bayshine » Mon Jul 07, 2014 7:15 pm

Well I got sick of mucking around with electric blankets/aquarium heaters and the like during these cold winter days
So i decided a heating chamber was in order :handgestures-thumbupleft:
I just built a frame out of 25mm rhs, lined it all with foam insulation and used some stick on Velcro to make the top and sides removable, stuck a 1800w heater in there running on an stc controller :handgestures-thumbupleft:
And she works a treat and fits 3x 120l fermenters and sits a a constant 30deg c

Now all you need is a way of cooling it down for those hot summer months lol.
I'm currently thinking up ways of getting my brew fridge to heat better. The little ceramic reptile heater works fine when I'm wanting around 24 degrees but much higher than that and I can see it starting to struggle..

For a fridge size chamber I would get a heat shrink gun that the sparkles use :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Better than reptile heater bulb as it circulates the air better and won't blow on ya like a bulb can
Come summer time I'm thinking I will hook a a small box aircon :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Talked me old boy into a chamber for brewing his beer and just using an old bar fridge and an old computer fan mounted to the freezer and a stc controller
Works a treat :handgestures-thumbupleft:
