Storing malted grain

Postby Doubleuj » Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:05 pm

i ended up getting two types of Pilsner malt to try a macwhiskey 5kg each but now I'm about to head off for work for a month or more, is it ok to just leave them in the plastic bags they came in? They are from Brewman, (thanks Atreu) and the bags are unopened. I did a quick search on storing grain but I'm not building a silo and you can't make me so ner :teasing-neener:

Is it crushed? If its not then you will be fine for ages
If it is crushed then its only good for about 30 days then the quality deteriorate

Cheers Linny, I got uncracked so by your logic it should be all good. Makes sense that whole grain kept away from moisture should be fine for ages, but, better to ask. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
