Coolite for mash tun?

Postby Hardie355 » Tue Feb 02, 2016 5:54 pm

Hey Guys,

I have access to a few sheets of 75mm aluminium coolite, I thought I could make a nice mash tun out of it around 300l.
Would there be any dramas you can see as it will have ally angle riveted on all corners and interior angles which I plan on sealing with sikka, it maybe a bitch to clean.
If anybody sees anything wrong with this idea let me know.

Cheers

Is it the coolroom panels? Some people have issues with ally personally I dont but would stick with stainless, not sure if sika is a good idea if it comes in contact with wort. Is it food safe?

Perhaps you could make a good strong box out of the panel then make a stainless skin to fit neatly inside so you have a nice food grade surface and make it water tight :handgestures-thumbupleft:
