Redux asked me for some cherry to give a try. Saw this style on another post so thought id give it a try just need decent piece of oak to c if it makes any difference . Can see the theory behind it its like glueing surface on furniture . Anyone played around with this design ?

But staying on topic, dominoes are great because they have bugger all end grain exposed compared to cubes/chips etc.

By putting those notches in your exposing more end grain and will drag more tannins out of the oak. If this is what you want then great, but there is a reason that when you age in a barrel the spirit is exposed to zero end grain ;-)

Thanks for reply I get the point about end grain and a barrel only showing long grain easy fixed back on panel saw for some solid ones

By all means mate give it a shot in some spirit and see what you think :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The thread that showed the pics of those things also claimed to age your spirit 3 years in 24 hours.

Doing it the way showed would probably still be better than chips but I would suggest a low oaking rate for a longer period of time.

Patience is key in this game ;-)
