A bubbler is a thing of beauty but do you have the tools, skills or the time to build? you really have to ask this question to yourself...if you can honestly answer this question with yes, build it, if not invest in a bubbler as it will return the monies spent in a short time with the money saved distilling your own...I think the rest has been covered in all the above posts. A bubbler built or purchased is the way to go if you are going to invest 1K...imo

Ok heres my take on it
If you are a good scrounger [ some of the items in my build I have had for 20 years][ you mite need it some day ] ie
the boiler ss valves various ss bits
Then go for it
you will need some soldering or brazing skills if you have these
Then go for it
You will some sort of practical knowledge
Then go for it
If you have the tools for the job [its to expensive to buy tools now a day ]
Then go for it
It gives satisfaction to say I built it
Depending on what sort of a scrounger you are it will work out cheaper
Total cost of mine including boiler was $550 to $600
Other wise order one off mac
