I bag mine up in biodegradable rubbish bags and chuck it in the bin. I figure it will break down in due course in the dump.

I run a sugarhead straight after an all grain for whiskey - essentially a sugarhead with leftover all grain flavour. No different in style to a CFW or other whiskey sugarhead.

After that, it goes in the compost with dolomite of lime and gets turned over immediately to prevent smells.

Have to agree with the gin botanicals for soap. I haven't used them for soap but I know they smell amazing even when they're finished making gin!

we feed our sheep on spent grain...wet or dry they love it...we also make chicken stuffing with our spent barley mixed with citrus skin used in gin and other spirits and the spent gin botanicals...nothing is wasted...if it is not edible or usable we compost and grow botanicals in the raised bed we fill with the compost...ours is a closed system with no waste leaving the property...that is just the way we roll.

Im assuming most people are only feeding sheep spent grain from the mash. Not from fermenting on the grain.

I you separate the grain from the wash can refill with clean water and that will take most of the alcohol from the grain and either use the water in next wash or water the garden.

The grain has little taste may need some salt and other things to give it some flavor.

In a small suburban yard in the city you would get away with 2 or 3 chooks and a small pen in the corner of the back yard. Will gobble all your grains up no problems at all. lucky for me when i start, I live in a smaller town and even though have a normal sized yard i get away with having 16 chooks and 10 ducks. Kids love to eat fresh eggs.

Don't reckon 2 or 3 chooks would keep up with the amount of grain for a 50L all grain mash. Unless you can dry it to store. :-B

Yea that's what I was thinking a big dehydrator then can re use grain for sugarheads. Biggest pita is when fermenting on the grain..
