I’ve had a look through the Noob and beginners questions and couldn’t find the answer I was after, so I apologise if this has been asked a squillion times before……
I have got a new 2” copper LM reflux still (basically a knock off of the Pure Distilling model). I have a TPW in the fermenter almost ready to go – I was planning on stripping it through my pot then do a spirit run through the reflux head. There seems to be conflicting opinions as to whether a stripping run is necessary with TPW through a reflux still. I was planning a stripping run to get the cleanest neutral I could. Am I wasting my time with stripping TPW?

Not really necessary if it's cleared properly and you run it slowly imo
But used to find a nett saving in time when I'd strip 4 x 25L washes then combine them back at 40% and do a slow spirit run

:text-+1: doubleuj said plus with doing stripping and spirit runs I found that I could strip mid week and run a spirit run on the weekend. This resulted in a good yield while not totally consuming my weekend.

When I ran a TPW through my reflux I needed to clean my scrubbers and condenser afterward which was a PITA. Now I pot still a 50L TPW in 3 hours then a slow spirit run on my reflux. I end up with 5L of 94% abv very clean. Minimal clean up required, just water rinse.

We always strip before our spirit run...always.
