Hi guys

I got my hands on 30 glass beakers (400ml)
I am wondering will the wide mouth make me loose to much alcohol if I use them for collection jars and for 48 hour airing?

Perfect mate. Most of us use open jars.

You only lose the bad stuff!

We take out the central disc of the jars and then put a piece of paper towel under the screw collar as a Turd-budgie strainer!

Like the others said perfect. Get a bag of elastic band and some paper towel to cover them up. I write the number and the ABV on each one. This helps identify where you narrow down the seperation between heads/hearts/tails depending on your still.

For what it's worth, I still collect 200ml ish at a time. You've got plenty of jars, and the smaller you go, the easier you'll find making your cuts, and the better your hearts will be.

Put numbers on the jars and record the time and ABV on a whiteboard, and transfer The important cut points to your little black book after the run.

:text-+1: on all of the above BUT be very careful when you wash them. They break incredibly easily. I used to use beakers but switched to more robust 300ml juice bottles after breaking more than a few in the sink...

Cheers,
Prof. Green

I use old tomato paste jars robust and in plentiful supply.
I use an old pillow case over the top just make sure that it's 100% cotton as your booze will dissolve the plastic shit!
