have you tried the search function ?
There are heaps of threads:
for example:
http://www.aussiedistiller.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2283&hilit=carbon

Plenty of people here encourage carbon filtering (together with tight cuts).

The link Rumsponge provided is spot on. The Doc's "how to" explains the process.

Do you air your spirit after the run? I find that leaving your product for 48/72 hours to air really does help get rid of any fusel alcohol.

Good luck :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I have always been told/informed that you can clean carbon by boiling etc but it is not possible to reactivate it without specialized equipment.

People say you can and to a point you probably can revive it a little but completely clean you'll need high temp steam. The pores you're trying to clean out are sub microscopic.
I've tried the various methods and had little success.
For the price which I think was a couple of bucks a liter its just easier to ditch it and use fresh stuff.
And I filter anything down to 40% even into tails. I just do the mankier stuff last.

beaull, there has been some serious advice provided. My point is... concentrate (learn) how to make a superior product, which is very easily achieved, then the need to carbon filter will, pretty much be a thing of the past. Consider the time and cost savings. However, if you embark upon the need to filter, there is enormous info out there which may suit your personal objectives. Our hobby is not achieved as an 'overnight wonder' and lots of trial/error/research usually brings us great success.

I put my wobblyboot on fairly early yesterday :laughing-rolling: I meant I don't use a filter, cuts will always produce a far better product but running ur hearts thru carbon can't be bad thing to do :handgestures-thumbupleft:
