Thanks DB and Woodduck, yeah i was worried i'd need to buy more caps and didnt want the expense as i still need a heap of triclamps, glass and the 90deg bends.
I can be my own worst enemy as i try to over analyze everything to try and get it right first time. But i need to remember to try and have a abit of fun with it all too, as it is juat a hobby. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

So ill just make the downcomers out of ¾" pipe instead of ½". If you think thats not big enough just say so as getting a bigger piece is no drama as i would only need a small piece to make 4 downcomers.

Yep go 3/4" for the downcomers, 1/2" is about 3 times less area than 3/4" so can only handle 3 times less flow. I have 1/2" downcomers on my 2" bubbler but 2" is half as fast as 3".

You can save on buying a 90 degree bend if you go blockhead and make the join yourself by expanding the end of 2" and the hole in your 3" so they fit each other. Someone did one recently but I can't remember who and I did the same on my 4".

Mine: not pretty but I don't bother with shining.

Dont get too bogged down with perfection.
As others have said you dont have to get it perfect for it to work.
But as this is a hobby some people (me) like the thought excersize, it is all part of the fun and process.

3/4 is what I use and it seems to work great.
