Cleaning up DIY Parrot

Hi all

I made a Parrot a little while back and while soldering the joints i wiped the excess solder off with a wet sponge which seemed to make all the joins a blackish colour

What is the best way to clean the joins just to make it look a little prettier?

Also i used Chemweld 965 flux which i didn't really like, for some reason i prefer paste (but i have the experience of a 5 yo when it comes to soft soldering), what is the going preference for flux?

Last question
I might consider making another one at some stage, what is the best process to polish a copper parrot?

I'd try a citric bath first then if that doesn't clean up the solder either a fine tooth file or some fine sand paper.
A citric bath every now and then will keep her looking pretty.

You can get bakers flux in both liquid and paste form from the big green shed.
About $17 for the paste and $11 for the liquid last weekend when i had a sticky-beak through the plumbing area
