When watering down low wines to under 40% do a spirit run, is it fine to use boiling jug water to speed up the heating process?

Yes mate thats fine, the reason you water down your spirits is to prevent the risk of explosion/fire when using flammable spirit <45% isnt flammable.

Enjoy your run! Personally tho I water use the kettle, Its slow and personally Id spill hot water everywhere.

It must be just me, BUT arent there some posts which challenge the use of chlorinated and chloromine (ated?) water in our travels. Or is that more so for the wash side of things
re. impact on yeast etc...Personally, i prefer 'conditioned' (treated) water in all stages.

I use tap in ferments but bottled to proof it. Does chlorine bubble off with the co2? I remember someone saying that agitation is a good way to degass water? Whats chloromine?

Edit: actually i think i am mixed up with cooling boiling water.. :-B

In all the years ove brewed and kept fishtanks ive used tap water. Never had a problem. I do tend to buy filtered water for diluting spirits down to drink, but i doubt its necessary.

Filtered water for your mash is better. Give your yeasts etc the best start you can. Doesn't matter what you're using to water down your spirits run and your boiling it anyway.

If the chlorine content is that high on your town water that it affects the ferment then you have far bigger issues :scared-eek:

If it bothers you that much you can always fill your fermenter and let sit overnight, most of it will evaporate anyway ;-)
