Teddy's Fast Ferment Vodka is slow this time

Postby davesims » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:48 am

Hi all

I am fermenting another batch of Teddys FFV which i made up last Monday, it is a 46 liter back (i doubled the 23 Liter recipe), last time i did the same it fermented out in 5 days, this time its still bubbling at 8 days, i had the temp hovering around 23 to 24c (around the same as last time)

Any ideas?

What are your gravity readings? Are you sure you doubled everything correctly?

I have made 3 batches of this at double the recipe. They also took about 5 days but I had it warmer. Pitched yeast at 28 degrees C. Fermenter wrapped in a blanket. After 3 days it cools to 23C so I push it back up to 27C with a heating belt and it finished off nicely. I then take the blanket off and let it cool to help clear for another week.
