Cleaning 220 liter fermenter

Postby davesims » Wed Nov 01, 2017 5:48 pm

Hi all

I bought a 220 liter barrel today, it had olives in it and looks very clean as it is. I was wondering what is the best cleaning process to ready this barrel for fermentation duties?

I just soaked my ones for a day full of water with a scoop full of napisan. Last 2 I bought I just hosed it out and though down a UJ wash in one. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

i soaked mine in unscented napisan and left it out in the yard with the lid off afterwards for a few weeks. Any flavor left didn't carry over into the rum wash's. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I hose out the inside and then dust it with bicarb soda, leave for a day or two then hose or pressure wash out
