So i have been doing sugarheads for a while now, but had a rum wash stall on me. Usually i dump my backset in the sideyard ( rocked area with weedmat ) and it hasnt been a problem until i dumped my stalled molasses/sugar wash. Now the sideyard smells like the area in a tip where the fruit is dumped and i live in a residential area. I have dumped the top inch or so of rock/soil which has improved it but the smell is still quite noticable and i dont want to piss the neighbours off. Will lime or vinegar get rid of it? After treating i will re-rock it

Hydrated lime will break it down fast.

Just make sure you keep it out of your eyes, it burns when you get it in your eyes and wear gloves.

Yeah definitely not the cleverest thing to do lol. I'll scrape another layer off the top and lime it. Then re lay some new rock and see how it goes. Thanks guys

Set a sprinkler up above it if you don't mind using some water and water it in deeper. Wash it away.
Have you tried to water it in? Shouldn't take the microbes too long to rip it apart.

Yeah we've had a few big rains and ive watered it a couple times. The layer of soil (if you could call it that lol) above the weedmat is shit very poor drainage. Lime and a good soak might do it i have scraped away about an inch or two and its helped just gotta get rid of the remainder of the smell before i cover it up in more rocks

Direct sunlight will aid the decomposition but may not get much between houses. You could try a LPG heat torch, as burning the smells will get rid of it as well. Just don’t burn your toes.
