Not that you will see it under the cap anyhow. So will it cause problems? Is the riser on one of macs 2" caps..

The heat discolouration is just a visual, won’t affect structure or pass any flavours. The stainless kitchen utensils that get left next to burners or on the bbq grill (bad habit I haven’t shaken yet) but I just chuck them in the dishwasher, then once clean, I use a soft cloth soaked in vinegar and if that doesn’t work, I use 1200 wet & dry with vinegar. Looks new afterwards.

I used stainless plate's with my 2inch caps ,and have found with use the bottom two plates have discoloured with use and the other two not so much,so I would not worry too much about it.cheers hillzabilly ;-)

Yea I have seen it mentioned the 2" caps can be non solder installed but I reakon the copper plate is to soft and wont give good seal so i soft soldered them in..

Roger that, thats why I made my plates from stainless for strength over copper, but your idear will work fine I am sure with the soldered riser reinforceing the plate for strength and a good seal, and a thonged foot in the pic will get bonus points as well.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:
