Hi all

I have my trusty 5 Star pot still sitting here and the only thing I have used it for so far is stripping runs for a neutral spirit.I have fermented and stripped a Mac's Lemon Vodka and I am waiting on the second gen fermentation before I do a product run, but then I realized I am not sure how to do a product run on a pot still.

I understand that i would need a power controller to control the speed of the output, everything else applies as far as heads and fores go, I will be taking 300mm cuts but how do I know when to stop?

Do I use a parrot like in the stripping run and stop at %

Put bit of spirit on your finger and taste it. When it tastes like crap(wet cardboard/dog generally unpleasant) stop. Unless you want the tails for something. The abv will differ depending on wash I used to keep from 78% down to 70% on my pot spirit runs. Smell and taste best way to tell when run is over. I normally collect extra couple bottles after when I think I should stop just in case.

However if you intend to run more lemon vodka strip it down to 20% as you can run the feints in your next one.

Hey guys thank you very much

I have stripped down to 20% of the first stripping run, started at 60%, i will do the same for the second batch before running a product run
