Refilter?

Postby Davis13 » Sun Jul 22, 2018 9:56 am

Hi everyone, haven’t done a batch in a long time and was fairly new to it then, I have a lot of stuff that I can’t remember if I have filtered etc and some that I have filtered/flavoured etc. I am wondering if is possible to refilter and get rid of flavours etc? Any help would be great

Better off running it through your still and taking cuts. Then filter your hearts if you wish.

Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

If you've already done cuts then you can refilter your filtered stuff. It wont clog the carbon up on the second run through.
But if you haven't done cuts you're much better off doing that first as previously stated. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If you’ve flavored with Still Sirits cordials I don’t thing filtering will remove enough to be able to call it neutral again, you will need to redistill it

Plus, if you haven't run your still in a while you could think of running it again as a way of reacquainting yourself with it, and the process.

Making cuts is a skill and too long between innings can make your senses blunt.
