What to do with the first gen?

G'day all,

Another noobie question, after making various types of vodka for the last 6 years Ive started 2x UJSSM and 1x McRum. I'll be running 4 plates with my neutraliser in a single pass as per Macs old operating instructions.

I have a couple of questions;
1) what should I do with my first gen? Add to the second gen spirit run?

2) I've read that a lot of people take it to 5-7 generations. That's fine but what do you do then? Tip it all out and start at Gen 1 again? I was thinking of storing 2 x 10 litres of backseat from gen 2 in the freezer and adding that to the gen 1 ?

3) is there any benefit of keeping the yeast from my last gen alive and adding it to my first generation?

Lastly is there a bible of home distilling that is recommended? I loVe the forums, youtube and Facebook sites, but I feel I will refine my hobby if I'm sitting by the fire on my bear skin rug, smoking a cigar while sipping on homemade rum in Darwin if I've got a decent book to read while doing so?

Thanks all

Matt

Distillers guide to rum is not a bad read if rum is your thing :handgestures-thumbupleft:

1) you can or you could drink it, just lighter flavour but still good.

2) keeping backset is a good idea

3) don't know never bothered

This forum is the bible :laughing-rolling:
