Testing abv at temp

Postby Rajika » Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:13 pm

So...... my question at hand is ! Went and bought a new alcometer the other day and old mate at the shop said that the liquid needs to be at 20deg other wise reading will be incorrect .........if this is the case the product flowing through the parrot at the end of most reflux columns is at what temp if you see where I’m going with this ..... any ideas?

Hey raj, all the info you need is here on the forum already, great thing about this site is you’re not the first person to ask these questions and all the answers are here already.
Check out and read through all of the newbies corner
And for the specific answer to your question I did up an excel spreadsheet that will adjust the abv depending on temp at the bottom of the calculator page :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Your going to need to test the temp coming out of “your” still, everybody’s will be different due to so many variables.
Once you have a temp there’s a correction calculation somewhere here

wont help much to print off the calculators or excel spreadsheet :laughing-rolling: but if you download excel for your phone you can save the file for use offline.
