FSD 4" Modular Pot Still

Hey fellers,
Been a while since I have done any brewing, bought a FSD "4 pot and a 2400w element years ago from the FSD store, question is I haven't really used it yet and have been reading on here about speed to run pot stills. I know running at full power is okay for the stripping run but is a temperature controller a necessity to slow down the speed or can I just run it at full power for the product run?
Looking at doing my first rum run in about a weeks time.

Hey mate,
I have a FSD 4" inch pot. 50l boiler 2x 2200w elements. You will definitely want a power controller. On a spirit run I use a power controller at around 40-50% power to one element and turn the second element completely off.

Have a look in the electrical section, there are plenty of discussions of different ebay jobbies that are used with great success.
I did see the other day 5Star have one for around $40 i think. Looked pretty good and shouldn't cause any probs, unlike some of the cheap ones online. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I have been using these for years and not had a problem. Also use it in my aquaponics system to slow down the water pump

Nah they fit our plugs fine. They just look weird but are designed to take all plugs. Am running it as we speak

I have one of these power controllers. It has a universal type plug socket that can take multiple types of plugs. The Australian plug does not sit snug on mine. I use a UK adapter as it fits nice and tight then plug my Australian plug in to that. Like this.

Thanks a whole guys I have purchased one from eBay from Mattyb link.
Just one other thing not related to this post but maybe someone can tell me, I put a rum wash on but didn't use the Epsom salts, is this necessary or what is it to help with?

Just with running the wash it says throw the foreshots on the striping run the again on the spirit run, how much is need to be thrown out on the striping run, Mac didn't mention it, he only said 100mls on the product run.
Would it be 100mls on the striping run too, I have a 50l boiler.

Did my first run a few weeks ago, did the stripping run full speed then did the product run at around 100 volts set on the regulator.
After trying it last night it had a bit of a bad taste, how fast should it be coming out also could it be the was wasn't settled enough?
