Pump needs viagra.

Postby Rolls912 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 9:47 pm

Well after reading Candy’s post about filtering (amongst other things) I thought I would by a pump and filter.

Connected it all up tonight and it’s absolutely weak as p*#s! Only barely pumps enough so a dribble and drip comes out the other end... of the outlet hose that is.

The pump is 25W. Has anyone got this type?

Any thoughts to improve the outflow?

Pressurize your supply vessel with a pump up type weed sprayer ,just get a new one and the hose that goes too the wand sprayer attach to the full supply vessel that can hold pressure and pump away.cheers hillzabilly ;-)

It should pump harder than that. Are you sure it's primed properly and there are no air leaks?

Hi rolls912
Can't be sure from the small pic, but that looks like a 'high temp magnetic drive pump' I use mine for transfers (wash to boiler and hot backset from boiler to drain). It doesn't have a very high pressure output, what are you trying to use it for ?

They are not a pressure pump. Can be throttled back to zero. What micron is the filter perhaps you need a pressure pump like this https://ebay.us/NmxFus don't know for sure but I doubt a magnetic pump would push through one of those filters..

Do you have much height available?

If you can get the source 10m above the filter/pump, that will gain you 15 psi

Thanks lads. Decided to go from a 25w pump to a 65W. The 25w primed was gutless.
Arrives in the next couple of days. Will be interesting to see if the filter makes a difference.
