T500 and Botanicals basket

Postby Hanbag » Mon Feb 11, 2019 6:43 am

Hi, I have been using my T500 for about 18 months, just making spirit and adding essences. I know nothing about stripping or cuts etc. so would like to be educated if you have the patience. I have just made 4 litres at 90%, do I reduce that to 40%, then put it back in the boiler and top back up to 25L, screw on the botanicals basket and run the still again at 50 degrees C ?

Hi hanbag :greetings-waveyellow:
There is a thread in the newbies corner that will shed light on doing cuts properly.
Kiwistiller's Novice Guide to Cuts and Fractions
As for rerunning your spirit through again, just put enough water in to dilute to 40%Abv or below... no need to fill boiler completey, just need enough in to keep boiler from running dry or elements becoming un covered.
There is also a thread about running a T500 the propper way in regards to your temp question.
