Hi All
I have just bought my second 30l fermenter and now have a Weetbix/Allbran wash on the go and also a Turbo wash on the go.
The Turbo wash was started mid day yesterday 30th April
When I ordered the goods for my local HBS I inadvertently ordered the Turbo 8 yeast, carbon and clear, on realising my mistake I rang them up and enquired how it would affect my wash. They advised to use 8kg of sugar which would increase ABV unto 20% and carry on as normal, which is what I did.
This morning there is an eggy smell in the spare bedroom where I ferment and the Turbo wash temperature which started at 30 degrees has now reached 34 degrees.
Having previously read that yeast dies off at high temperatures, I have sat a fan in front of the fermenter (though it may not do much good) to hopefully lower the temperature and remove the odour
Has anyone else ever had this issue and how can it be avoided
I"m assuming that this isn't normal
Many thanks
Oh by the way my previous WB/AB wash turned out fine and as mentioned earlier I have another WB/AB wash going along side the turbo. This is an experiment on which I think is the best quality wise. I am expecting the WB/AB will come out on top!
