Flooding colum

Heated boka up and coolum floods. I used same size scoria I used in my 4" bubbler. Small rocks. Heated up then was running on 1800w. started gurgling and spat small amount liquid out top. Backed off to 1000w same again gurgled and spat liquid out top. When I packed it I checked and could easily blow through it. So guessing I need To empty packing and mix bigger stones through it? First time running a reflux still..

Obviously you checked that the boiler wasn’t too full?

yea only 25-30l at about 20%. Have been waiting all day for it to cool so I can repack I really need a wort chiller :sad:

Sorted now. re packed taking fours off at 2 Drips a sec. Column settled on 75c held it there half hour. I take it temp will change between stills deepending on column height packing material and the mood of the distilling God's on the day...
