Leaving 2nd Generation till later

Postby Handyandy180 » Sat Jun 01, 2019 12:32 pm

Hi all, I have just run a weetabix and all bran wash through my air still and I'm now in the process of running my cornflake wash through the still. I want to do a second generation in each fermenter but I am overseas in six days time for three weeks.
Would the yeast bed be happy if I just just covered it with cold water and put the lid back on. Or would I be better starting again on my return.
Many thanks

I’d be more inclined to put the second gens on before you go, then they’ll be ready when you get back :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi Doubleuj, would it matters that it sits in the fermenter? I thought it was better if it came out and was put into glass?
Cheers

Wouldn’t matter at all, at low abv like washes there’s no risk of plastic leaching, only at higher abv.
Just top up your airlock before you go or make sure the cling wrap is secure and it’ll wait patiently for your return.
Heck, I’ve got 100L of macwhiskey wash that’s been sitting since March
