Just starting out and need some advise? then post it in here.

Airing

When should you let your offtake air and for how long.
Should i let it air at foll strength or cut back to 40% abv
Will i loose alc content if left open .

I am no expert but I leave it air straight off the still for 24 - 48hrs. Then after that I dilute it - I am usually not in a hurry so it sits another 24-48 hours then the lid goes on. Then it usually sits for weeks before I decide what to do with it.

I might lose quantity but have not had any issues with losing % abv.

Cheers big rig pretty much what im doing atm except for a dark rum have 2.5 lt sitting on oak chips in a glass vessel with just some cloth over it.
Just re check when i get back from work 10 days in all will tell me abv wise.

You shouldn't lose too much and what you do lose will mostly be the bad stuff.

equipment: Eve - 4" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (sieve plates), 330 mm packed section on a keg boiler with 2 x 2000 W elements.
Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

I do remember back in the bad ol days of airing out some twangy turbo shite was the longer the better.
Bit like putting a bad aid on after chopping a finger of i suppose. :wtf:
Will be putting down a couple of cereal washes when i get home keen to leave the turbo days behind and save some coin to boot .
