Controlling Starch with Iodine

Postby grasmere » Thu Aug 08, 2019 2:53 pm

Is it necessary to control starch by doing an iodine test and using calcium carbonate in the TPS and Weetbix, which is what I have been doing?
I haven't seen mention of this for these recipes.
What amounts of calcium carbonate are recommended when doing a Iodine test?
Any advice appreciated

Hi mate, if this is for TPW and WBAB I reckon you're overthinking it.

Testing starch content would be for those that are doing mashes with real grain to see if the enzymes have done their job properly. Not something you really need to worry about when making booze from breakfast cereal.
