Distilling a second Time

Postby deerndingo » Sun Sep 15, 2019 6:07 pm

Hi, So I have distilled one batch of sugar wash (Turbo wash 6kg). Can I run this through the sill again? My objective is to clean it up. It does have pleasant odours and tastes, but I have read that it should be neutral.

1. Is it useful to run it through again.
2. Do i dilute it ti say 40%ABV to run it again.
3. Having already remove the heads, do I do that again.

Thanks in advance for replying to my question

1) Yes, especially being a turbo wash!

2) Yes, below 40% abv for safety. Just measure the current abv then work out how much water you need to add to get it to where you want. Bookmark this page for all the useful calculators:

3) Yes (although I don't remove heads from the initial stripping runs).

All the above is good advice.
I'll just add that you'll need a voltage controller if you don't already have one. As the volume of vapour produced from a 40% charge will be much larger and will over power your condenser otherwise.
